HUNTINGTON – Travelers on I-84 can expect ramp closures in September at Exit 353. Crews will be paving the exit ramps and working on other safety features as part of the highway improvement project between Huntington and Ontario.
Travelers should watch for advance warning signs and follow posted detours.
Upcoming ramp closures

Sept. 14-17: 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, to 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.
- I-84 westbound Exit 353 on-ramp from U.S. 30 (Farewell Bend).

Sept. 28-30: 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30
- I-84 eastbound Exit 353 on-ramp from U.S. 30 (Farewell Bend).
- I-84 eastbound Exit 353 off-ramp to U.S. 30 (Farewell Bend).
The eastbound Exit 356 on‑ and off-ramps at OR 201 (Olds Ferry Interchange) will remain closed through Oct. 6.
Project schedules may change and closures could be extended if needed.
Other impacts
All I‑84 traffic has been shifted to the westbound lanes between Exit 353 and Exit 356. This temporary configuration allows crews to complete paving and other work on the eastbound lanes.
The speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph between Exit 353 and Exit 356. Drivers should remain alert for new traffic patterns and increased roadside activity.

About the project
We are repaving 16 miles of I‑84, both eastbound and westbound, and rebuilding the road connections near the Olds Ferry Interchange at milepost 356.
This work will extend the life of the highway, reduce maintenance needs, and improve safety for all travelers.
This is a two-year project with a scheduled completion in October 2027.
