ASTORIA – Travelers should expect lane closures, delays and possible traffic backups on U.S. 30 at the east end of Astoria while crews repair sections of damaged pavement.

Work is scheduled Monday, Aug. 24 through Wednesday, Aug. 26, between mileposts 97 and 98. Crews will work from about 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

Crews will grind out damaged pavement and wheel ruts and replace them with new asphalt.

What to expect:

  • Daytime lane closures.
  • Flaggers controlling traffic. Crews will use the center turn lane for traffic control where possible.
  • Congestion, backups and delays through the work area.
  • Crews and equipment working close to traffic.
  • Construction noise.

Traffic control in this area is more complex because of intersections, signals and other roadway features.

Slow down, watch for crews and equipment and follow directions from flaggers through the work zone.

Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.
