U.S. 97 NW Galloway to O’Neil Highway project

REDMOND - Construction on the U.S. 97 NW Galloway to O’Neil Highway project is anticipated to begin the week of August 4.

This project will improve safety and help prevent crossover crashes along this corridor.

Improvements include:

Installation of a concrete island traffic separator on U.S. 97 at the O’Neil Highway/Pershall Way intersection.
- Access to U.S. 97 from these side streets will be restricted to right in, right out only.
- Drivers on U.S. 97 will still be able to turn left onto O'Neil Highway and Pershall Way through designated median openings.
Construction of a median barrier on U.S. 97 from O’Neil Highway/Pershall Way to just south of Galloway Avenue.
- Canal Boulevard access will be restricted to right in, right out only.
Lane restriping on southbound U.S. 97 to remove the existing passing lane.
Replacement of the overhead flashing light at O’Neil Highway/Pershall Way with new advanced intersection warning signs.

Construction impacts: August to September

Most work will occur nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. Closures and detours will be lifted during non-work hours.

O’Neil Highway/Pershall Way will be closed at the U.S. 97 intersection, with detoured access to and from U.S. 97 via Canal Boulevard and the North Redmond Interchange.
The outside lanes of U.S. 97 will be closed, U.S. 97 mainline will remain open.
Southbound U.S. 97 will be reduced to a single lane configuration permanently.

Construction impacts September to October:

The U.S. 97 northbound inside lane will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Left turns from U.S. 97 onto O’Neil Highway/Pershall Way will be detoured to the North Redmond Interchange and Canal Boulevard.
Access to U.S. 97 from O’Neil Highway/Pershall Way will be permanently changed to right-in right-out only.
Single lane nighttime closures with flagger control on U.S. 97 will occur during paving, striping and finish work activities.
