ODOT crews use rolling slowdowns to control traffic during road work on Interstate 5. Pilot cars lead vehicles through the work zone at a slow, steady pace to give crews time to work safely while keeping traffic moving.
July 10, 2026
JACKSON COUNTY – Travelers in Jackson County could experience delays next week as crews complete two highway maintenance projects.
Monday, July 13 – 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Crews will be adding striping to pavement in the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 5 between the Oregon-California border and Exit 11 (South Ashland).
Expect rolling slowdowns and watch for crews and equipment in the area.
During a rolling slowdown, pilot cars hold traffic to a slow but steady pace through the work zone. This allows crews to work safely and gives time for the paint to dry while keeping traffic moving, avoiding lengthy road closures. Emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass through as needed.
Wednesday and Thursday, July 15 and July 16 – 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Crews will repair cracked and rutted pavement on OR 238 (Jacksonville Highway) west of Medford between West Main Street and Ross Lane.
The highway will be limited to a single lane through the work zone. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot cars. Expect delays of less than 20 minutes and reduced speed through the work zone.
Please slow down and use caution in the work zone. Allow extra travel time and watch for crews and equipment. Consider using an alternate route to avoid delays.
This work is weather dependent and schedules may change.
