I-84 westbound off-ramp at Exit 353 closure begins June 23

Expect other ramp closures, traffic pattern changes in July near Huntington

June 19, 2026

HUNTINGTON – Beginning June 23, the westbound Exit 353 off‑ramp to U.S. 30 will be closed near Huntington. Crews will be paving the exit ramps and working on other safety features as part of the highway improvement project between Huntington and Ontario. This closure will be in place 24 hours a day through June 26.

Travelers should watch for advance warning signs and follow posted detours.

Our schedule may change, but we also plan to close:

  • Exit 356 eastbound on-ramp from OR 201 early July into August.
  • Exit 356 eastbound off-ramp to OR 201 late July into August.

The westbound Exit 356 on‑ramp from OR 201 remains closed through July 3.

Traffic pattern change in July

At the end of June we plan to begin shifting traffic from the eastbound lanes to the westbound lanes between Exit 353 and Exit 356.

Beginning the week of June 29, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

The week of July 6, all I‑84 traffic will then shift to the westbound lanes. After the shift, we will begin repaving and rehabilitation work on the eastbound lanes.

Other impacts

The speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph between Exit 353 and Exit 356. Drivers should remain alert for new traffic patterns and increased roadside activity.

Construction schedules may change based on weather and project needs. Updates will be provided on the project webpage.

Visit TripCheck.com for the most up to date information and follow posted signs for the safest and most efficient route through the area.

Detours

Detours will be in place and signed during these closures. When following detours, stay on main roads and follow signs. Do not rely on GPS, which may direct you onto closed or unsafe roads that are not viable routes for interstate traffic.

About the project

We are repaving 16 miles of I‑84, both eastbound and westbound, and rebuilding the road connections near the Olds Ferry Interchange at milepost 356.

This work will extend the life of the highway, reduce maintenance needs, and improve safety for all travelers.

This is a two-year project with a scheduled completion in October 2027.
