Northbound I-205 will be closed at the bridge from 11 p.m. June 13 to 7 a.m. June 14
June 2, 2026
OREGON CITY – Starting the night of June 13 and continuing several more times over the summer, there will be overnight directional closures of the Interstate 205 Abernethy Bridge as crews pour concrete on the newly widened bridge deck.
These overnight closures will either be northbound or southbound but not both directions at the same time. This work depends on dry weather, and schedules may change or shift on short notice.
The first of these closures will be northbound I-205 between OR 99E and OR 43 from 11 p.m. Saturday, June 13, to 7 a.m. Sunday, June 14. The on-ramp from OR 43 to northbound I-205 also will be closed.
Detours
- Northbound traffic will bypass I-205 in this section by using detours on I-5 and I-84.
- Local traffic can use the Arch Bridge to cross the river.
- Southbound I-205 lanes will remain open.
We expect the next two more nighttime closures of I-205 northbound to take place in June. The tentative dates are the nights of June 20 and June 27, but these dates are subject to change.

About the project
ODOT is upgrading the Abernethy Bridge, which spans the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn, to withstand a major earthquake. We are also improving safety by realigning on- and off-ramps near the bridge and building new bike and pedestrian routes. This work is expected to finish in 2027.
