Here’s how we updated a public engagement policy based on your feedback

May 4, 2026

For more information, contact Matt Noble 503-779-9868

Earlier this year we asked for public feedback on our policy that guides our engagement with Oregon’s communities about statewide transportation plans.

We received 24 comments and we’ve incorporated many of them into the revised public engagement policy. Thank you to everyone who sent us their comments.

Summary of changes

We made these changes to the policy based on public comments:

  • Clarified plain language requirements for public reporting and metrics.
  • Expanded accessibility requirements.
  • Strengthened personal data protections.
  • Adjusted public review timelines and procedures.

What’s next

We’re presenting the updated policy to the Oregon Transportation Commission on May 7 and will request they formally adopt the policy. The meeting is open to the public. Visit the commission webpage for the physical meeting location in Corvallis and a link to the online livestream.

More information about the policy

The Oregon Transportation Commission Public Involvement Policy guides how we engage with the public in three areas:

  • Statewide policy plans that outline priorities and investment strategies for different modes of transportation, like our Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.
  • The Capital Investment Plan, our new roadmap for identifying investments on the state system over a 10-year period.

We're recruiting for some positions that provide vital services to our state.
