Van Buren Bridge Ribbon Cutting
Event planned at Riverfront Commemorative Park on May 6
The new Van Buren Bridge carries OR 34 traffic from Corvallis into Linn County toward I-5.
CORVALLIS — A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Van Buren Bridge is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, to mark a key milestone in the project.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. at Riverfront Commemorative Park, NW 1st Street, in Corvallis. Community members are welcome to join local partners in recognizing improvements to safety and accessibility.
The Van Buren Bridge project improves safety and mobility for people driving, walking, rolling and biking, and strengthens the bridge’s ability to withstand a major earthquake. A few finishing touches, such as landscaping, will continue as conditions allow.
Travelers should expect increased activity in the area that morning. Parking near the park will be limited due to the event and the Wednesday Market. People are encouraged to carpool, use public transportation or walk if they plan to be nearby.
Following the ceremony, attendees will have an opportunity to walk the new multiuse path across the bridge. ODOT will also host an informational booth at the Wednesday Market for those who want to learn more about the project and other work in the area.
