Workers with prime contractor Gage It Construction install a new “Do Not Enter” sign along the Interstate 5 southbound off-ramp at Exit 113 (Clarks Branch Road) on Tuesday night, March 31.
Drivers should use alternate routes when off-ramps are closed

ROSEBURG – Construction on an Interstate 5 safety project will lead to short nighttime closures of more than 40 off-ramps in Douglas County through the end of April.
ODOT and prime contractor Gage It Construction have been working since last summer to install signs, pavement markers and other safety features along I-5 off-ramps. These features will help discourage drivers from entering the high-speed travel lanes from the wrong direction.
The final phase of work, which involves installing signs and roadside reflective posts, will require closures of most I-5 off-ramps in the county for about 2-4 hours each. Contractors are planning to work on about four off-ramps each night.
Ramp closures will take place between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., Monday night to Friday morning. Each ramp will only be closed once, and only one ramp will be closed at any given time.
When ramps are closed, drivers are advised to use alternate routes, such as continuing to the next I-5 interchange and turning around.
Drivers should watch for construction signs and roadside message boards.
The I-5 Southern Oregon Wrong Way Driver Mitigation project involves most off-ramps along a 160-mile stretch of the interstate through Jackson, Josephine and Douglas counties. Gage It Construction, based in White City, was awarded the contract after a successful bid of $2,410,806.
Gage It has finished most work in Josephine and Jackson counties, and began working in Douglas County during spring break, completing most of the ramps between Glendale and Canyonville and several other ramps up to the Winston area.
As the contractor continues working north, local drivers can watch for I-5 off-ramp closures at the following locations the next four weeks:
