St. Johns Bridge will close for five nights starting March 9 for inspections

Closures will be 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday-Friday nights March 9-14

PORTLAND – The St. Johns Bridge will close for five nights starting during the week of March 9 at 10 p.m. for bridge inspections.

The bridge will close to all traffic, including vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, at 10 p.m. Monday and reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday. The schedule will repeat through Friday night, with the work completed by 5 a.m. Saturday, March 14.

The closures are needed for the biennial bridge inspection and maintenance.

Detours

  • On the bridge's east side, in St. Johns, travel eastbound on U.S. 30 Bypass (North Lombard St.) to southbound Intersatte 5 to Interstate 405 southbound over the Fremont Bridge to westbound U.S. 30.
  • On the bridge's west side, in Northwest Portland, travel eastbound on U.S. 30 to northbound I-405 over the Fremont Bridge to northbound I-5 to N. Lombard St.

Emergency vehicles will be allowed over the bridge during closure times. The last two scheduled TriMet buses will be allowed to cross each night.
