Federal funding available for transit vehicle upgrades

The Oregon Department of Transportation's Public Transportation Division is accepting applications for the first phase of the federal 2027–2028 Competitive Transit Grant program that funds replacing and purchasing buses. This grant is federally funded and cannot be used to fund ODOT’s ongoing state budget crisis. In March, the second phase of the federal grant funding for capital and operations projects will open. 

Phase 1: Vehicle acquisitions grant (now open)

  • Funding source: Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5339(a) Buses and Bus Facilities small urban and rural apportionment funding
