I-5 Aurora-Donald Interchange
Plan ahead: Two-day closure of northbound I-5 Exit 278 off-ramp starts at the end of December
Starting December 29, we're closing the northbound I-5 Exit 278 off-ramp to Ehlen Road NE for two days while crews install drainage pipes.
Off-ramp closure and detour
Our crews will close the off-ramp starting Monday, December 29 at 7 a.m. and plan to reopen Tuesday, December 30 at 4 p.m.
|
During the closure, you can expect:
- Cars to detour by taking I-5 Exit 271, heading east on OR 214, then north on OR 99E, continuing north onto OR 551 and turning onto Ehlen Road NE.
- Semi-trucks to detour by continuing north on I-5, taking Exit 282 to turn around, then traveling south on I-5 and taking Exit 278.
- The off-ramp closure to last for about two days.
Don't forget to slow down on I-5 in the work zone
Our construction equipment is moving in and out of the area, often using the far left lane – avoid using this in the work zone.
Other impacts you can expect:
- Crews working daily, Sunday through Thursday with occasional night and weekend work. Up to two lanes closed nightly in either direction on I-5 as needed from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- Other roads in the project area to have single lane closures as needed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Reduced speed to 55 mph in the I-5 work zone.
- Construction noise and delays.
- No lane changes are allowed where there are double white lines.
Use caution as you drive through the work zone, there are grooves in the pavement along the median shoulder.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work. Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
