PENDLETON – Crews will be drilling on sidewalks in downtown Pendleton on Monday, Nov. 17, and Tuesday, Nov. 18, as part of early work for the Eastern Oregon ADA curb ramp upgrades, Phase 4.
Work will take place on sidewalk corners between Court Avenue and Frazer Avenue, from Southwest Second Street to Southeast Second Street.
Travel lanes and parking will not be affected, but sidewalk detours may be used in narrow locations. All pedestrians will still be able to move safely through or around work zones.
About the drilling
The work involves drilling through the concrete to see what’s underneath to help plan future construction. Crews will use water-cooled, hand-held equipment to drill about six inches into the sidewalk. They will use a scope camera to investigate the materials or voids underneath. Drilling will not take place over known basements. Work at each corner is anticipated to take under an hour, and holes will be patched immediately afterward.
This work is part of a larger effort to bring curb ramps in Pendleton and across Region 5 up to current ADA standards, improving safety and access for everyone.
Construction for Phase 4 is expected to begin in spring 2027.
Sidewalk drilling activities will take place in downtown Pendleton.
