MADRAS -- The office at 249 S.W. Third St. is closed today, Aug. 20, due to staffing shortages.
Oregon DMV has employed roughly the same number of people for the last 25 years, even as the state's population has grown by 800,000, most needing DMV services. We often have to temporarily close an office if we don’t have enough people to staff it. When possible, we shift employees from nearby offices, but that isn't always an option. Drop-in customers can expect longer wait times with no guarantee of same-day service.
