PORTLAND – The second day of a two-day pavement preservation project on Cornelius Pass Road has been delayed by weather until either Thursday or Friday.
Rain is in the forecast for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, so we need to wait until surface conditions are dry enough to complete the work.
So please check Tripcheck.com before you head out if you use Cornelius Pass Road, which is also OR 127.
During the second day of work, there will be very limited local access with flaggers and pilot cars, and limited detours in place. We recommend that travelers wishing to drive the entire length of Cornelius Pass Road between U.S. 26 and U.S. 30 use U.S. Interstate 405 to avoid long delays.
Wherever you travel in Oregon, please check TripCheck.com before you hit the road for the latest information on your route and alternative routes.
ODOT funding
Due to ongoing funding challenges, we are delaying or canceling some planned maintenance activities, but this pavement preservation work will be done as scheduled. ODOT is experiencing a significant and immediate funding shortfall that is resulting in staff layoffs and reduced capacity across the agency. Without new revenue or flexibility in spending, ODOT is forced to make deep cuts and lay off hundreds of people to stay within its budget.
