I-5: Kuebler Boulevard to Delaney Road
We've been working on widening a portion of southbound I-5 from Kuebler Boulevard to Delaney Road.
Heads up – Wiltsey Street SE is closing soon
Starting July 28, you can expect:
- Wiltsey Street SE to close at the Battle Creek Road SE intersection.
- To detour around the Wiltsey Street SE closure by taking 36th Avenue SE north to Kuebler Boulevard.
- The closure to last for up to nine months.
- Battle Creek Road SE to remain open until we’re ready to connect the road to the new roundabout.
This closure will allow us to bring in materials to build up the elevation of the intersection for the new roundabout.
If you're driving on I-5 in the area, you can expect:
- Construction noise.
- Crews working during the day and at night.
- Lane, shoulder and ramp closures as needed.
- 55 mph speed limit in the I-5 work zone.
Funding information
While the funding crisis is having a profound effect on ODOT’s maintenance and operations, most construction projects will continue as planned. These projects are typically funded through separate capital programs, often with state or federal funds that are legally restricted to project development and cannot be redirected for maintenance or day-to-day operations.
Delays may still occur due to a reduced workforce. Fewer available staff for traffic control, inspections and project oversight could slow down timelines or introduce challenges in project delivery.
For more information on ODOT’s funding crisis, visit our website.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work. Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
