OR 99E Improvements: Market Street to Union Street
We're making progress on our project to enhance and upgrade signs on OR 99E.
Plan ahead for nighttime paving
We're paving Commercial Street from about D Street to Union Street before we add the new permanent striping and install the new sign bridge over OR 99E.
If you're driving through the work zone July 14 - July 17, you can expect:
- Commercial Street to be closed between D Street and Union Street. Follow the signed detour or take an alternate route.
- The Center Street Bridge off-ramp to northbound Front Street/OR 99E to close nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Construction noise and delays.
- Temporary pedestrian detours.
Funding information
While the funding crisis is having a profound effect on ODOT’s maintenance and operations, most construction projects will continue as planned. These projects are typically funded through separate capital programs, often with state or federal funds that are legally restricted to project development and cannot be redirected for maintenance or day-to-day operations.
Delays may still occur due to a reduced workforce. Fewer available staff for traffic control, inspections and project oversight could slow down timelines or introduce challenges in project delivery.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember: fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
