Center Street Bridge maintenance repairs start July 13
Plan for ramp and lane closures
We're replacing six worn out asphalt plugs that protect the Center Street Bridge joints.
Bridge joints are the spaces between different sections of the bridge. They allow the bridge to expand and contract as the weather changes.
|
When work starts, you can expect:
- Crews working at night.
- Lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- Construction noise and delays.
- The off-ramp to southbound Front Street/OR 99E to close nightly from July 13 through July 16.
- The off-ramp to northbound Front Street/OR 99E to close nightly from July 17 to July 22.
We need dry weather, so our schedule may change. Visit TripCheck.com for the most up to date information on impacts.
These six joints are not part of the upcoming retrofit project, but will help keep the bridge in good working order before we return in 2026.
Investigation for the upcoming seismic retrofit project
Crews will also be on the bridge inspecting and gathering information to help with the upcoming seismic retrofit project.
You can expect crews working at night:
- July 14 through July 16 under the bridge, plan for lane closures on Front Street.
- July 20 through July 24, plan for lane closures on the bridge.
- July 27 through July 28 , plan for lane closures on the bridge.
Funding information
While the funding crisis is having a profound effect on ODOT’s maintenance and operations, most construction projects will continue as planned. These projects are typically funded through separate capital programs, often with state or federal funds that are legally restricted to project development and cannot be redirected for maintenance or day-to-day operations.
Delays may still occur due to a reduced workforce. Fewer available staff for traffic control, inspections and project oversight could slow down timelines or introduce challenges in project delivery.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work. Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
