Immediate Maintenance Improvements
|

Construction starts tomorrow, June 10
We're about to start work on safety improvements at the OR 22 and OR 51 intersection.
You can expect:
- Crews mostly working during the day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Occasional night work as needed.
- Shoulder closures.
- Occasional lane closures with flaggers helping direct traffic when needed.
- Construction noise and delays.
|
 About the work we're doing
This area has a high volume of traffic and crashes. Improving safety and access to OR 22 and OR 51 is important, whether you're heading to Rickreall from OR 51, a truck driver delivering goods, or a tourist heading to the coast.
We are:
- Updating signs as needed.
- Installing new striping, reflective pavement markers, barricade, tubular markers and shoulder rumble strips where needed. Rumble strips create vibration and sound to alert drivers when they're leaving their lane.
- Changing how you access OR 22 at the intersection:
- No left turns from 55th Avenue onto eastbound OR 22.
- No left turns from northbound OR 51 onto westbound OR 22. Drivers on OR 51 can use S Oak Grove Road to access westbound OR 22.
 Future Intersection Improvements
OR 22: Rickreall Road to Doaks Ferry Road NW Project
We're making these intersection improvements with the limited funding we have. We have a project that is planning for long-term safety improvements at this location.
The project is studying the area to recommend a design plan that improves safety at the OR 22 and OR 51 intersection and supporting access roads. At this time, we don't have funding for construction.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember: fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
