June 16, 2025
The third weekend directional closure of southbound OR 217 from Canyon Road to OR 99W is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Friday, June 20, and end by 5 a.m. Monday, June 23.
The section that will close will be the same as the first two weekend closures earlier in June.
Paving and striping are dependent on weather and equipment availability, which means schedules may change. Please check the project website and your inbox regularly for the most up-to-date project information and Tripcheck.com for current travel and closure information.
This weekend’s closure details:
All southbound lanes of OR 217 will close for the weekend from Canyon Road to OR 99W. Southbound drivers will exit OR 217 at Canyon Road, and these southbound ramps will close for the weekend:
- Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway on-ramp.
- Allen Boulevard off-ramp.
- Denney Road on-ramp.
- Hall Boulevard off-ramp.
- Hall Boulevard on-ramp.
- Scholls Ferry Road off-ramp.
- Scholls Ferry Road on-ramp.
- Greenburg Road off-ramp.
- Greenburg Road on-ramp.
- OR 99W off-ramp.
The recommended detour is to use eastbound U.S. 26 and southbound I-405 to I-5. Check Tripcheck before you hit the road this weekend.
This week, drivers should expect to travel temporarily on rougher, ground-down surface on parts of OR 217 south between Greenburg Road and OR 99W. There are abrupt pavement edges along the shoulder in some locations, so please continue to drive with caution.
The new auxiliary lanes may not open right away – crews might still need to use them to finish work along the shoulders and side slopes.
The next weekend directional closure to complete paving is scheduled for the northbound section of the project area for the weekend of June 27, weather permitting.
The overall project remains on schedule to be completed by the end of this year.
Background
The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes project will improve safety and reduce bottlenecks on the highway by adding auxiliary lanes, or ramp-to-ramp connections, between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. We are also making targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes.
Work began in 2021 and is on pace to finish on time by the end of 2025. The $174 million project is funded mostly by House Bill 2017. The City of Beaverton and Washington County also contributed money toward the project.
