While on the road this summer, watch for crews, equipment and flaggers. Be prepared to slow down or stop when you see orange cones and construction signs.
 I-84: La Grande-Baker City Sign Upgrades
We are upgrading road & weather sensors and installing variable speed limit (VSL) signs and variable message signs.
Work has begun and is expected to be completed in August.
Expect shoulder closures through June. Lane closures and rolling slowdowns are planned for July.

U.S. 30 (10th Street)/Hughes Street Upgrades (Baker City)
We are modifying the intersection to improve freight mobility and ADA access. Crews are currently installing drainage structures, clearing vegetation and widening the shoulders.
The project has begun and is scheduled to be completed in November.
Travelers may see shoulder and single lane closures with flaggers as needed. We anticipate road closures on Pocahontas and Hughes in the coming weeks.

Umatilla County Signal Safety Improvements
We are removing the existing camera detection system and replacing it with a radar detection system at multiple locations in Umatilla, on U.S. 730, and in Hermiston, on U.S. 395 and OR 207.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 9 and be completed by the end of June.
Crews will be working nights (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) with minimal impacts to main roads and possible side street closures.

 U.S. 95: Idaho State Line-McDermitt
In 2024, we resurfaced this section of highway. This summer we are adding rumble strips, fog and chip seal, and permanent striping to finish the project.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 16. The project is expected to be completed in August.
Expect lane closures, automatic flagging devices and delays up to 20 minutes.

OR 86: Guardrail Upgrades
We are replacing outdated guardrail to improve safety.
This project begins the week of June 9 and is scheduled for completion by October.
Expect daytime lane closures with flaggers and possible delays up to 20 minutes.
