ODOT is updating the Oregon State Rail Plan, which sets policies for freight and passenger rail, and we want to hear from you.

This survey takes just 5-10 minutes to complete and closes May 30: Oregon State Rail Plan Survey

Why we want to hear from you

Freight and passenger rail services are critical components of our state’s multimodal transportation network. We want to hear your thoughts about Oregon’s rail system, suggestions for new Oregon rail projects, and ideas for improving existing ones. The survey also includes an interactive map where you can flag specific locations for safety improvements and service extensions.

Your feedback will help inform our work to update the rail plan. Our vision is a safe, efficient and commercially viable rail system that serves travelers, communities and businesses throughout Oregon.

We’ll share a summary of the responses on the rail plan update in the coming months, and we expect to complete the updated plan in fall 2025. We will then present it to the Oregon Transportation Commission for adoption.

Learn more about the update process and timeline on the Oregon State Rail Plan webpage.
