Paving: Halsey to Lane County Line

We're about to start paving southbound I-5!

Plan ahead

Next week we start paving southbound I-5 to give you a smoother ride. Here's what you can expect:

Crews working mostly at night, Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Some daytime work as needed.
Single lane closures between 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Construction noise and delays.
Occasional Saturday night bridge work.
A reduced speed limit to 55 mph in the work zone.
No lane changes allowed where there are double white lines.

Motorcyclists – use extra caution when driving through the area

Expect a temporary two inch abrupt edge between lanes in the work zone. Slow down and use caution – the abrupt edge could be difficult to drive over safely, especially for motorcyclists. This is one of the reasons that lane changes are not allowed where there are double white lines painted on the road.

About the project

Last year, we began construction on the I-5 paving project between Halsey and the Linn/Lane county line.

On northbound I-5, we've completed paving and installed rumble strips, reflective markers and guardrail. We've also applied new permanent striping.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.

Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
