This summer: daytime Astoria-Megler Bridge lane closures

Mid-June through September, expect single lane daytime closures

Heads up – you'll see us on the Astoria-Megler Bridge this summer!

If you haven't heard already, we're replacing some of the bridge supports and concrete bases.

While most of the work will happen below the bridge, we'll need daily single lane closures for the safety of our crew and the traveling public.

Starting mid-June, you can expect:

Crews working during the day, Monday through Thursday and until noon on Fridays.
Daytime single lane closures with flaggers and temporary traffic signals helping direct traffic.
A temporary work platform under the bridge.
Construction noise and delays.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.

About Bridge Funding and Replacement

Our funding to maintain, preserve and replace bridges is limited by the structural revenue issue our agency faces. At the rate we're currently replacing bridges, it would take us almost 900 years to replace all of the bridges on the state highway network.

We will not allow Oregonians to travel on unsafe bridges, but as bridges age it will steadily cost more to maintain them. Over time these bridges will face weight restrictions and eventual closure without timely replacement.
