Pile driving for bridge foundation work scheduled to begin Monday
One of the final pieces of foundation work needed to make the bridge able withstand a major earthquake is scheduled to begin Monday, May 12 and could last four weeks. This portion of the project will require pile driving at the base of the bridge on the Oregon City side during daylight hours.
We know the noise from construction work can be disruptive. We appreciate your patience.

Project Traffic Impacts
As work activity increases, there are multiple lane reductions, ramp closures and signed detours occurring throughout the project area. Current and complete details and detour maps can be found on the project website.

This phase of demolition work on the I-205 Abernethy Bridge decks is complete.
Overnight deck demolition work to remove portions of the existing bridge deck in preparation for the eventual widening of the structure has paused for now with more planned for later in the summer and fall.

ODOT is upgrading the Abernethy Bridge, which spans the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn, to withstand a major earthquake. Additional improvements are being made to the bridge's adjacent on- and off-ramps to improve safety. This work is expected to be completed in 2026.
