Nighttime paving is ramping up on I-5 near Halsey – plan ahead for nighttime ramps closures.

ramp closures

Plan ahead

On Sunday, May 18, through Thursday, May 22, you can expect the southbound I-5 on and off-ramps to OR 228 Halsey/Brownsville Exit 216 to close nightly between 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

We'll have detour signs up showing how to get around the closures by taking either Exit 209 or Exit 228 depending on the direction you need to go.

Don't worry – we'll only close one ramp at a time while we work on paving.

You can expect:

Crews working mostly at night, Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Some daytime work as needed.
Single lane closures between 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Construction noise and delays.
A reduced speed limit to 55 mph in the work zone.
No lane changes allowed where there are double white lines.

About the project

Last year, we began construction on the I-5 paving project between Halsey and the Linn/Lane county line.

On northbound I-5, we've completed paving and installed rumble strips, reflective markers and guardrail. We've also applied new permanent striping.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.

Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
