ODOT NEWS RELEASE
Southbound I-5 on-ramp at Rice Hill will close for nearly three weeks
April 28, 2025
RICE HILL – The southbound Interstate 5 on-ramp at Exit 148 (Rice Hill) is scheduled to close on Monday, May 5, due to bridge repair work at the interchange. The ramp will re-open before Memorial Day weekend.
A four-mile detour is available. During the ramp closure, Rice Hill drivers planning to travel south are advised to take I-5 north to Exit 150 (Yoncalla), cross over to the other side of the interchange and use the southbound on-ramp.
Contractors for ODOT are repairing the I-5 bridge over John Long Road, starting on the northbound side of I-5 in April, then switching to the southbound side next month. All work is scheduled for completion by May 23.
I-5 drivers should watch for intermittent lane closures in both directions.
Despite the ramp closure, access to all local businesses along John Long Road will be maintained. This includes access to the drive-in diner on the west side.
