Daytime Lewis and Clark River Bridge Closures Start in May

Starting May 5, you can expect the Lewis and Clark River Bridge to close daily while we make repairs.

Between May 5 through May 23, you can expect:

• Crews working Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• The bridge to be closed during the day and open to traffic at night.
• To detour around the closure using U.S. 101 and U.S. 101B. 
• Construction noise and delays.

Please use caution when driving through the area.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.  Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.

About Bridge Funding and Replacement

Our funding to maintain, preserve and replace bridges is limited by the structural revenue issue our agency faces. At the rate we're currently replacing bridges, it would take us almost 900 years to replace all of the bridges on the state highway network.

We will not allow Oregonians to travel on unsafe bridges, but as bridges age it will steadily cost more to maintain them. Over time these bridges will face weight restrictions and eventual closure without timely replacement.
