Expect delays for roadway striping in April

Starting the week of April 14, striping crews will begin applying highway markings on one-way streets in Pendleton and along U.S. 395 (Southgate) toward Les Schwab. This project is expected to kick off in Baker City early in the week and move to Pendleton by Wednesday.

To minimize disruption to local traffic, work in Pendleton is scheduled between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Through the remainder of April, crews will expand their efforts to include Hermiston, as well as Interstate 84 and Interstate 82. Specific locations and schedules outside of Pendleton are flexible and subject to change.

Traffic impacts and safety reminders

Travelers are encouraged to stay alert and exercise caution when traveling through active work zones.

  • Expect lane closures and reduced speeds.
  • Be cautious of wet paint and avoid driving over freshly painted lines.
  • Give paint trucks plenty of room to operate safely and avoid spray.
  • Whenever possible, use alternate routes or delay travel to avoid work zones.

About this work

Crews are applying new markings to enhance road visibility and safety for all travelers. Examples of these applications include lane markings, turn arrows, and pedestrian crosswalks.
