SALEM - The Oregon Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School Program is proud to announce the selection of three innovative traffic garden projects to receive technical assistance through its Traffic Gardens Pilot Program. These projects aim to improve road safety skills for children and promote sustainable transportation. Selected projects will receive guidance and support to bring their concepts to life. Project names may change as the designs are finalized.
Selected Participants:
-
Odell Traffic Garden – Located at Mid Valley Elementary School in Hood River County, this project will design a traffic garden layout where there is an existing asphalt track and blacktop space.
-
Eugene Traffic Garden – Situated in Eugene, this project aims to design a traffic garden within an existing local park, envisioning a fun and educational space for students and families from all over the Eugene area.
-
Corvallis Traffic Garden – Based in Corvallis, this project will design and install a traffic garden at Lincoln Elementary School, aiming to be the first of many throughout the Corvallis area.
