OR 99E Improvements: Market Street to Union Street
|
Our crews have been working on OR 99E/Commercial Street NE between Market Street and Union Street. We've removed and replaced the sidewalk on Commercial Street NE and installed ADA compliant curb ramps, improving accessibility for all users.
Our next steps include removing the old signs and street lights to prepare for installation of new ones.
You can expect:
- Crews mostly working during the day from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Single lane closures as needed at night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Construction noise and delays.
- Temporary pedestrian detours.

  About the project
We're making improvements to the area and are planning to:
- Install improved overhead guide signs for Marion Street Bridge.
- Install overhead lane use signs where appropriate in the project area.
- Upgrade striping and road markings as needed.
- Add bike lane striping on Commercial Street from D Street to Union Street.
- Add traffic separators between Division Street NE and Union Street NE.
- Upgrade curb ramps to meet current ADA standards in the project area.
New striping, road markings, overhead lane use and guide signs will help make it easier for drivers to be in the correct lane to get to where they need to go. Dedicated bicycle lanes give both cars and bikes their own defined space to move safely through the area. ADA curb ramps make it easier to move between the sidewalk and road – benefiting all users, whether you have a disability or not.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember: fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
