Self-Issue Permits Program - Height Updates

The Self-Issue Permits Program (SIPP) allows certified carriers to issue their own single-trip, over-dimension permits, without prior analysis by ODOT staff. If you are operating at legal dimensions (for example: no more than 8'6" wide; no more than 80,000 pounds gross weight when hauling a divisible load), SIPP will probably not be a benefit to you.

Height information was updated for two structures:

  • US20 EB MP 10.44 (Ellsworth St Bridge) in Albany - a recent project increased the available vertical clearance to more than 15 feet 00 inches.
  • US26 MP 40.91 (Edwards Tunnel) west of Portland - a recent re-scan of vertical clearance lowered the lane height to 14 feet 09 inches eastbound, and 14 feet 08 inches westbound. Loads higher than this, and any over-height load that is also over 10 feet wide must straddle the centerline when crossing through this structure. Certified flaggers and signing are required, or the certified rolling stop method is allowed.

Height information is only available to those carriers certified in the Self-Issue Permits Program, after logging in to Oregon Trucking Online. The maximum permittable height in the program is 15 feet 0 inches. Height data must be checked prior to the issuance of any single-trip permit, including those issued under the Self-Issue Permits Program.
