About the project
To help improve the road on U.S. 20 through downtown Philomath, our crews made several upgrades over the past few years. Many different people and organizations played a part in supporting and implementing this big project.
What was done:
- Fully reconstructed most travel lanes on Main and Applegate between 14th and 7th Streets.
- Repaved parking spaces.
- Rebuilt or installed new curb ramps to meet ADA standards.
- Installed curb extensions to help increase pedestrian visibility.
- Installed enhanced pedestrian crossings with rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFB) on Applegate Street at 14th Street and on Main Street at 7th Street.
- Added a two way cycle track on the south side of Applegate between 13th and 15th Streets to provide westbound bicycle access between the Applegate neighborhood and the downtown area and to provide connectivity for the “Corvallis to the Coast” bike route
- Replaced traffic signals.
- Improved stormwater runoff.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
