Watch for work zones in the North Umpqua corridor this week

Travelers on OR 138E can expect delays of up to 20 minutes

Oct. 21, 2024

NORTH UMPQUA – Work beginning Monday at multiple sites along a 38-mile stretch of Oregon 138E (North Umpqua Highway) may lead to congestion and delays. Crews are working to complete maintenance projects ahead of winter weather.

Crews are working on Oregon 138E between mileposts 29 (Boundary Road) and 67 (Mowich Loop Road). Work is scheduled during daytime hours Monday through Friday, Oct. 21-24. While most delays will be brief, drivers should allow for extra travel time through this area.

Crews will complete projects to cut brush along the roadway, repair sunken pavement, remove large rocks that have fallen onto the shoulder and repair a section of guardrail. Not all of the work will occur at the same time, but travelers may see multiple work zones with flaggers providing traffic control in a single lane. Temporary traffic holds may be needed in some work zones.

Please watch for workers in the roadway. Use caution and be prepared to slow or stop.
