Welcome to the Construction Training and Certification fall newsletter. In this issue, we will provide important information, updates and resources to help you plan for training and certification.

Featured Courses
Erosion Sediment Control for Manager Course - Enroll 11/5 This course is designed for contractors working on ODOT projects using its DEQ 1200-CA permit. It is not valid for DEQ 1200-C permitted projects which may include local agencies, municipalities and private groups. Those passing the certification exam will receive a 3-year certification.
Environmental Construction Inspector Course - Enroll 11/6-7 This course is for ODOT personnel, consultants and local agencies responsible for conducting or overseeing environmental inspections during the construction of ODOT projects using ODOT’s DEQ 1200-CA permit. Those passing the certification exam will receive a 5-year certification.

ADA Curb Ramp Certification - Last Chance for 2024!
The 2024 ADA Curb Ramp Certification Training Curriculum and Exams will be offline December 1 - January 15. Plan and prepare to complete your new certification in time for the last Field Exam that is offered on 11/6. If you are recertifying, plan to complete prior to December 2024. The updated 2025 ADA Curb Ramp Certification Curriculum will be posted on Workday Learning after January 15.

Retirement Spotlight
Sean Parker, ODOT's Quality Assurance Technician Training Coordinator, has retired officially September 30th, after 31 years of service. Sean will continue working the next few months as we transition to his replacement. He has overseen the ODOT Construction Technician Certification Training program for 25 years as well as maintained and updated the Manual of Field Test Procedures. Sean has represented ODOT on the Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction Board for 25 years. He served as the QAC Chair for WAQTC from 2018 to 2023. Sean also served from 1980 to 2001 in the Army National Guard for the state of New Mexico and Oregon and recently retired with 21 years of service. We are so thankful to Sean for all his contributions to the program! We wish him happy trails as he embarks on the next chapter in life.

Challenge Exams
Monthly inspector certification challenge events will be offered at the ODOT Salem Materials Lab on the following dates: 11/21, 12/19 To register for a future challenge exam, please complete the ODOT Inspector Exam Registration Form. Plan Reading Series (1 hour) - New to Construction? Go through the first module prior to an inspector training course. You can familiarize yourself with the basics of plan reading.
Math Module - If it has been a while since your last math class, this is useful as background for all of the certification courses.

Construction Materials Technician Training
Construction materials technician training will be administered through our Industry Partners: Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon, American Concrete Institute of Oregon and Oregon Concrete and Aggregate Producers Association.
