Region 4 Weekly Construction Update

Here at ODOT, we are committed to providing a safe and efficient transportation system for everyone. We invest in Oregon's future through roadway improvement projects. The following projects are located within Region 4; Central Oregon from The Dalles to Klamath Falls on the east side of the Cascades.

There are two ways to learn about construction taking place for the upcoming week. 

1. Visit TripCheck.com. Constantly updated with construction and crash data, TripCheck is the best way to learn about road conditions around the state. Click on a traffic cone symbol on the map to see construction impacts for that area.

2. Scroll down to the counties and highways listed below to see impacts that could affect you. Construction information is shown for one week, giving you the most up-to-date information.

All work is dependent on weather conditions, and schedules are subject to change.

DESCHUTES COUNTY

U.S. 97 and U.S. 20 Bend North Corridor 

Travelers will encounter single lane closures on U.S. 97 from Empire to Grandview Sunday night through Friday night for traffic control maintenance and sidewalk demolition and grading.

The ramp from southbound U.S. 97 to southbound U.S. 97B/ Cooley will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Friday for paving and guardrail installation. Please use detour in place.

The ramp from U.S. 97B (at Cooley) to northbound U.S. 97 will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Friday for paving and guardrail installation. Please use detour in place.

Crews will be performing cleanup work on U.S. 20 from Cooley to Robal as well as performing excavation, grading, drainage, paving, striping, sign installation, and bridge work on U.S. 97 between Grandview and Cooley and Empire.
Demolition, grading, and flatwork on the sidewalks of existing U.S. 97 business park will continue and crews will begin paving the existing business parkway.

U.S. 97: Lower Bridge Way - Northwest 10th Street (Terrebonne) 

Crews will be performing single lane closures on U.S. 97 from A Street t to Central Street to install new traffic striping and sewer.
11th street will be closed (local access only) from U.S. 97 to F Street. For the 11th street detours use posted detours.
Travelers should expect moderate delays on the highway.

U.S. 97 Redmond to Bend Phase 2

The project kicks off with crews working on Gift Road Thursday and Friday.  They will be clearing and grubbing to get the ground prepared for the future J-Turn.

U.S. 20: 3rd Street - 15th Street (Greenwood, Bend) Project

Crews will be performing daytime single lane closures on U.S. 20 (Greenwood) between 6th and 11th street Monday to Friday for sidewalk operations. Moderate delays expected.

U.S. 20 at Locust Street Roundabout

Crews will be performing daytime shoulder closures Monday to Friday. Also, paving will occur on the U.S. 20 and on side streets the nightly October 1 through October 3. Expect minor delay during the day and up to 20-minute delays at night during paving operations.

OR 126: Redmond - Powell Butte

Crews will be performing nighttime lane closures Sunday night to Friday morning for curb and sidewalk installation from U.S. 97 to Veterans Way. Moderate delays expected.

CLACKAMAS COUNTY

OR 35: U.S. 26 Overcrossing Bridge (Mt. Hood Highway)

Work continues on-site with crews performing joint seal work and curing of a new concrete deck overlay. Single lane closures controlled by portable temporary traffic signals should be anticipated on OR 35.

CROOK COUNTY

U.S. 26 Meadow Lakes Drive – Combs Flat Road (Prineville)

Crews will be performing nighttime lane closures Monday to Friday for sidewalk, signal, and drainage at the Combs flat intersection. Also, the south side of Knowledge will be intermittently closed for construction of ADA ramps. Drivers should expect delays.

GILLIAM COUNTY

OR 206: Rock Creek Bridge Project

Work continues on-site with crews building the new bridge, as well as performing stream channel and embankment earthwork. Motorists should expect a temporary traffic signal-controlled work zone with navigation through the project on a temporary graveled diversion road. Portable message boards will also be in place informing motorists to expect up to 20-minute delays.

Plan Ahead: Our second planned three-week closure of OR 206 at Rock Creek Bridge (10.6 miles east of Condon) is expected to begin October 7, 2024 through October 27, 2024. Please plan for an alternate route during this time.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

U.S. 26: Wapinitia Junction - Warm Springs River Sec.

No traffic impacts expected this week.

OR 140 at OR 66 Intersection Improvements

U.S. 97: OR 58 - California Border Project (The Dalles - California Highway, MP 252.44 - MP 278.81)

Link River Bridge at MP 275.03: On September 30 and October 1 the U.S. 97 northbound on ramp from Main Street will be closed intermittently between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. for striping and barrier work. Bridge work will be done behind the barrier. Conger Avenue and George Nurse Way are closed to thru traffic, please follow detours in place.

U.S. 97: SCL Crescent - Willamette Highway 58 Junction Section

Crews will be performing striping and cleanup work controlled by flaggers and pilot car from 7p.m. to 7a.m. Sunday night through Friday morning. Travelers should expect 20-minute delays.

SHERMAN COUNTY

I-84: US197-The Dalles, Rufus & Arlington Bridges

Work on the project begins this week with crews on-site installing erosion control measures and performing median cable barrier work. Motorists should anticipate daytime single-lane closures on I-84 near milepost 109, in both eastbound and westbound directions.

VARIOUS COUNTIES

All Roads Transportation Safety (ARTS) Intersection Upgrades Project (U.S. 97 at milepost 120.96 - 121.48

Crews will be performing nighttime lane closures on the night of September 30th to install signal modifications. Single lane closure will be done with flaggers. Drivers can expect minimal delays on the highway.
