Culvert repair work begins today
|
We're wrapping up construction on a project that started in 2023 to repair or replace culverts along OR 58 that were in poor condition.
Culverts allow water to safely flow under the highway, help minimize flooding and help with fish passage if a stream or creek flows through it.
Starting Sept. 27 to Oct. 4, we're working between milepost 13 and 13.6.
Next, we plan to move east and work between milepost 15.5 and 54. You may see crews back to complete final tasks in late October near milepost 13.
You can expect:
- Single lane closures weekdays between 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. with flaggers helping direct traffic.
- Construction noise and potential delays up to 20 minutes.
We anticipate this work to last about one month. Our schedule may change, visit TripCheck.com for the most up to date information on traffic impacts.
Eagle Creek to Salt Creek Tunnel paving is almost complete!
We replaced about eight miles of driving surface and installed rumble strips that will help alert drivers by making noise and vibration when they're leaving a lane.
We're excited to let everyone know that we're wrapping up this work! You may see our crews in the area while we install permanent striping and finish other tasks, so please use caution.
Check out this great photo taken by one of our crew members of a paving truck at dusk!

Other work on OR 58: Coast Fork Willamette River to Lower Salt Creek Bridges
We're continuing work to make four bridges along OR 58 earthquake ready:
- Coast Fork Willamette River Bridge at milepost 2.4 (west of Pleasant Hill).
- Willamette River (Barnard) Bridge at milepost 33.2 (west of Oakridge).
- Salmon Creek Bridge at milepost 36 (in Oakridge).
- Lower Salt Creek Bridge at milepost 38.2 (east of Oakridge).
This work will help make the OR 58 corridor between I-5 and U.S. 97 stronger – a key route between the southern Willamette Valley and Central Oregon.
During construction you can expect:
- Single lane nighttime closures, Sun. - Thur., at the Willamette River Barnard Bridge, milepost 33.2, with flaggers helping direct traffic between Oct. 3 to Oct. 10.
- Construction noise and delays.
- Trucks entering and leaving the road near the bridges.
- The Dilley Boat Ramp to be closed at Coast Fork Willamette River Bridge now through December 2024.
