PORTLAND – Two southbound lanes of I-5 just north of the Southwest Multnomah Boulevard, exit 296B, will close tonight, Oct. 3, at 10 p.m. for ODOT to conduct emergency core drilling to determine the extent of the damage from a waterline break. The two-lane closure will be between mileposts 296.7 and 297.00 in Portland and is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4.
The southbound offramp to Southwest Multnomah Boulevard, exit 296B, will be open during the repairs.
These overnight repairs will require core drilling two lanes to assess damage caused to the Highway by the waterline breaks. Traffic delays are expected as the three-lane interstate is reduced to one lane overnight. Check Tripcheck.com before you travel to plan your route.
More closures to address the issue are anticipated and these details will be shared once confirmed.
