Big Cliff Dam to Mongold Slide paving is complete! |
OR 22 next to the Big Cliff Reservoir with new pavement, striping and rumble strips
The driving surface between Big Cliff dam and the Mongold Day Use area on OR 22 was deteriorating. Our maintenance crews were having to do more frequent repairs and patching to keep the road usable. This created a bumpy and sometimes uncomfortable ride and increased the cost of maintenance.
To create a smoother and safer ride, we:
- Repaired the driving surface and applied new pavement.
- Painted new striping.
- Installed new guardrail.
- Installed rumble strips in the center of the road. This creates sound and vibration, alerting drivers they're crossing into oncoming traffic.
We're excited to let everyone know that this project is complete! We appreciate everyone's patience while we worked on the road to give you a smoother and safer ride.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
