PORTLAND – Lane closures will take effect on US 26 near Exit 72 over two September weekends to allow the City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services to replace 800 feet of large diameter brick sewer pipes located underneath the highway.

Exit 72 will remain open during all construction activities. However, one eastbound and one westbound lane will be closed to safely accommodate crews and equipment during sewer pipe inspections and repair work.

This work is expected to cause significant traffic delays. The traveling public is advised to use an alternate route and take public transit where possible.

Work is currently scheduled for the following weekends, with closures taking effect from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Friday, Sept. 20 - Monday, Sept. 23
  • Friday, Sept. 27 - Monday, Sept. 30

More information on the Tanner Trunk Sewer Project may be found on the project website.
