Do you travel on OR 47 or U.S. 30?

Whether you drive, ride, walk or roll, we are committed to providing the best accessibility possible to all people using our highways. One of the ways we are doing this on OR 47 and U.S. 30 is by constructing ADA curb ramps in Rainier, Vernonia, Forest Grove and Gaston.

Our plan is to start work mid-September in Rainier. When construction starts, you can expect:

• Work happening mostly on weekdays during the daytime with occasional weekend work as needed.
• Shoulder and lane closures with flaggers helping direct traffic.
• Delays and construction noise. 

We plan to start work in Vernonia, Forest Grove and Gaston in 2025.

Why are ADA curb ramps important? ADA curb ramps make it easier for people to move between the sidewalk and road. This can be helpful for those who have trouble stepping up and down high curbs. It's also helpful for people using wheelchairs, strollers​, walkers, hand carts and bicycles.  By making curb ramps gently slope to the road, it improves accessibility and makes it easier for everyone to get around, whether they have a disability or not.
