ODOT PROJECT UPDATE:

Melrose Road is now open as traffic moves onto new Conn Ford Bridge

August 2, 2024

ROSEBURG – Melrose Road is now open to traffic, two days ahead of schedule. ODOT encourages motorists to use caution when approaching and crossing the new Conn Ford Bridge at the south Umpqua River.

The road had been closed at the South Umpqua River since July 21 as prime contractor Farline Bridge Inc. built roadway approaches to the new bridge and removed most of the bypass structure. The new bridge was opened at 1 p.m. today.

The speed limit through the work zone will remain 35 mph the next two months while the contractor completes work and moves out. Motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures, usually at night.

For more information, contact ODOT Public Information Officer Dan Latham at Dan.Latham@odot.oregon.gov or 541-817-5200. Questions can also be directed Douglas County Public Information Officer Tamara Howell at 541-957-4896 or Tamara.howell@douglascountyor.gov.
