Safe Routes to School provides bicylce safety trainings in communities around Oregon.

To friends of Safe Routes to School,
We’re pleased to announce grants promoting Safe Routes to School. These grants make school routes safer and more accessible for students across the state through safety and access improvements and education.
Education Grants
In February, staff opened the application process for the Education (non-infrastructure) solicitation. We received 19 applications for the Safe Routes to School Education Program. In May, the Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee reviewed the ODOT staff funding proposal and all applications, ultimately recommending funding for 14 eligible applicants.
These grants will fund various programs designed to educate students. The grants will also improve communities by reducing traffic congestion around schools by encouraging safe, active transportation for students. The grant recipients include initiatives for pedestrian and bicycle safety education and outreach activities to ensure students have safe routes to and from school.
Project Identification Assistance
The Project Identification Program will also work with 14 agencies to plan and engineer of new Safe Routes to School.
