CANYONVILLE -- The Canyonville DMV office at 241 NE Main St. will reduce its service days starting June 24. The office, which operates with a small staff of two, has insufficient personnel to remain open daily and will close Mondays and Fridays until further notice.

NEW service days and hours starting June 24 will be:

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday.
NOTE: The office has a mid-day closure from 12:30-1:30 p.m. daily.

“We encourage our customers to visit DMV2U first to see if they can complete their service online and skip the trip to an office,” said DMV Administrator Amy Joyce. “We’ve added more than two dozen of the most common DMV transaction services in the past few years to increase convenience for our customers. More people doing online transactions means fewer lines and lower wait times at DMV offices.”

Southern Oregon residents can also visit DMV offices in Roseburg or Grants Pass, or complete transactions like registration renewal or transferring a title through the mail. Other services, such as adding the Real ID option to your license, must be done in person. Before you go to any DMV, visit the office page to make sure it's open. All DMV offices will be closed July 4 for Independence Day.

“DMV has been experiencing the same shortage of applicants for job openings as other employers statewide and nationwide, and it's more difficult to fill vacancies in smaller communities like Canyonville,” said Joyce. “We hope to restore daily service at some point, but it’s not clear when that might happen. In the meantime, please be kind and patient to your local DMV staff."

Time flies – make sure you can, too!

Real ID-compliant identification will be required for domestic flights starting May 7, 2025. If there’s a chance you’ll travel by air in May 2025 and beyond, make sure now you have the ID you will need at airport security. If you don’t have a passport or other TSA-approved ID, consider adding Real ID to your license well before the deadline, as it can take weeks to receive. Click here for more information about Real ID in Oregon, including making an in-person appointment. Use the Real ID tool to determine which documents you need to bring with you to the DMV office.
