HILLSBORO -- A three-mile section of OR 219 south of Hillsboro will be closed on two days next week for a chip seal project that will upgrade the roadway.

From 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 24 and again from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, the road will be closed in both directions between Tongue Lane and Farmington Road, milepost 2.5 to 5.5.

Traffic will be detoured around the work area on both June 24 and June 26. A signed detour will take OR 219 northbound traffic onto Farmington Road, River Road and Tualatin Valley Highway. Southbound traffic will follow a signed detour onto Grabel Road, Minter Bridge Road, River Road and Farmington Road. The detour will add approximately three miles driving distance.

Residents who live between Tongue Lane and Farmington Road will be able to get through with the help of a pilot car. This is for local traffic and emergency vehicles only. All other traffic must take the detours during the closures.

After work is finished on June 24, the first day, OR 219 will have loose gravel on the road. Please reduce speed and drive carefully during this time.

We are using temporary striping initially and crews expect to come back on Monday, July 1 to complete permanent striping.

The chip seal and striping work will be rescheduled if it’s raining.
