We're extending the application deadline for the federal Carbon Reduction Program’s latest grant funding opportunity for specific jurisdictions.

This extension only applies to projects in Oregon cities, rural parts of counties, and transportation agencies that serve areas with fewer than 5,000 people.

The new deadline is July 10, 2024.

Eligible applicants are counties, cities, tribal governments, and local transportation agencies in the above areas.

Examples of eligible projects include public transit, bike infrastructure improvements, low-emission vehicles or fuels, electric vehicle charging stations, and intelligent transportation systems.

Start your application online today. Also visit the program webpage (link above) for resources for applicants and more information about the program. If you are interested in applying, please contact the program administrator for technical assistance with your application.

We're extending the deadline because ODOT did not receive enough applications to maximize the distribution of the nearly $3 million available to communities with populations under 5,000 people.

Note to applicants: You must get signed approval from an ODOT region manager on your proposed project by June 26. Learn how to complete this required, pre-application step on the program webpage.

The Carbon Reduction program funds transportation projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The federal program will distribute $82 million to Oregon over five years.

The Carbon Reduction Program is one of several ways we’re working with federal and state partners to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation and address climate change in Oregon. Our data says that by 2050, we’re on track to reduce emissions by about 60%. Learn how we’ll get there on our transportation emissions website.
