We have begun work on U.S. 30/10th Street in Baker City to improve ADA and freight mobility.
The contractor, Moreno and Nelson, has installed temporary traffic control. For the first couple of weeks into June, they will be surveying, clearing vegetation and other debris along the project site, and removing some existing sidewalks.
 Project schedule:
You can expect to see work in three phases.
PHASE 1:
The contractor plans to begin work on U.S. 30/10th Street at L Street and move south toward Broadway Street. This work involves removing old and installing new curb ramps, as well as the removal and replacement of old drainage infrastructure.
PHASE 2:
Upon completion of the curb ramps and drainage work, the contractor will focus on installing new sidewalks between L Street and Broadway.
PHASE 3:
The final phase will involve reconstruction of the U.S. 30 and Hughes Street intersection. This phase is currently scheduled to begin at the end of August.
Schedules are tentative and subject to change.
The project is scheduled to be completed October 2025.
Traffic impacts:
During phases one and two, traffic on U.S. 30/10th Street will be shifted to the middle lanes, with at least one lane open in each direction.
- Traffic delays are anticipated to be minimal.
- For the next couple of months, the majority of impacts and detours will affect pedestrians.
- Access to businesses will remain open during construction.
- Crews are planning to work Monday-Thursday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
