We're working on OR 58!
|
We're making four bridges along OR 58 earthquake ready:
- Coast Fork Willamette River Bridge at milepost 2.4 (west of Pleasant Hill).
- Willamette River (Barnard) Bridge at milepost 33.2 (west of Oakridge).
- Salmon Creek Bridge at milepost 36 (in Oakridge).
- Lower Salt Creek Bridge at milepost 38.2 (east of Oakridge).
This work will help make the OR 58 corridor between I-5 and U.S. 97 stronger. It's a key route for delivering supplies between the southern Willamette Valley and Central Oregon after an earthquake.
During construction you can expect:
- Occasional single lane nighttime closures with flaggers directing traffic.
- Noise.
- Trucks entering and leaving the road near the bridges.
- The Dilley Boat Ramp to be closed at Coast Fork Willamette River Bridge now through December 2024.

We're wrapping up construction on our culvert project that started in 2023 to repair or replace culverts along the highway that are in poor condition.
When construction starts again this year you can expect:
- Shoulder closures.
- Single lane closures weekdays between 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. with flaggers helping direct traffic.
- Potential delays up to 20 minutes.
- Construction noise.
We anticipate work starting in June and lasting for about two months.

We're installing rumble strips on OR 58 and other locations throughout the Willamette Valley.
These are grooves in the pavement that create vibration and sound to alert drivers when they are leaving a lane.
When construction starts you can expect:
- Lane and shoulder closures with flaggers helping direct traffic.
- Crews working during the day.
- Noise and delays.
