Construction work began in April 2023 and continues on OR 99W between I-5 and SW McDonald Street in Tigard. This $41 million investment is funding a fully connected sidewalk network in the corridor, smoother and safer road surface, increased bike lane connectivity and reconstructed sidewalk curb ramps so they comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. These improvements increase safety and add connections for people who drive, bicycle, walk and use mobility devices.
As of January 2024, completed work includes:
- A half-mile of new sidewalk.
- 53 new ADA-compliant curb ramps.
- Four retaining walls.
- New pavement on the elevated section of OR 99W over the railroad tracks and Fanno Creek.
- The majority of the pavement repairs needed prior to paving.
As work continues, travelers can expect temporary lane closures on OR 99W and side streets, primarily at night. Temporary sidewalk closures will continue with signed, accessible pedestrian detours. People bicycling will find periodic closed shoulders with signs directing them into the travel lanes. We are also planning several short-term interchange ramp closures.

- Improve the OR 99W intersection at SW Johnson Street and SW Main Street by building a new crosswalk on the east side of the intersection, designated left turn lane for vehicles heading north on Pacific Highway and new traffic signal.
- Repave nearly three miles of road surface from I-5 to SW McDonald Street.
