Travelers through Cairo Junction on U.S. 20/OR 201 will see a three-way stop through winter as construction continues on the single-lane roundabout.

There will be no flaggers to direct traffic. Please slow down and drive through the area with caution. Even if you pass through multiple times a day or throughout the week, watch out for workers and equipment.

Thank you for your patience as we work to improve safety at this intersection. We know this project has a big impact on traffic in the area.

Project updates

The contractor, Marcum & Sons, will work into the winter building the roundabout's foundation. Depending on weather, they expect to start pouring concrete this winter.

This project includes safety upgrades on U.S. 20 between Riley Junction and Ontario. Work includes paving existing pullouts and upgrading intersections from Sage Hen Rest Area at milepost 114 to Cairo Junction at milepost 258. This work is tentatively scheduled to start mid-spring 2024.
